HOW THINGS WORK

University of Virginia physics professor Louis Bloomfield’s site, "How Things Work" answers questions submitted by Web surfers about how everything from airplanes to microwave ovens to nuclear reactors do what they do. Read Professor Bloomfield’s answers, or ask a question of your own!

INVENTIONS

MIT’s Invention Dimension offers a wealth of information for and about inventors. Read short biographies of famous (and not-so-famous) inventors in the searchable "Inventor of the Week" section, or learn how to protect and promote your own invention by visiting the "Inventor’s Handbook."

ARCHITECTURE

Visit Great Buildings Online and use the searchable database there to get photos, history and statistics of some of the world’s most famous buildings like the Chrysler Building and the Eiffel Tower. Drawings and 3-D models of many of the building are available for free.
